The town of Iwanai is located in the red-colored area called Shiribeshi in the western part of this map. About two hours drive from the New Chitose Airport and 1 and 3/4 hours from Sapporo.
Soup currey is one of the Japanese currey dishes which does not use wheat flower and seasoned only spice in the base soup. It is characterized by the aroma, stimulation, and spiceness of the spices and the relatively large size of ingredients. It became a boom in Sapporo in the 2000s, and then spread through Japan.
Cherry Blossoms in the Iwanai Shinto Shrine, which has history of about 200 years. During the Kansei period, around 1800, the Matsumae feudal lord ordered Yozaemon Kumanoya, a contractor in Iwanai to enshrine Ichikishima Hime no Kami, the God of Water.
